Now onto the main topic of one of the greatest Anime OVA's I have ever seen. I had seen some reviews of Garland figures, which initially got me interested in the show itself. I felt that the concept of transforming motorcycles was pretty badass. However Megazone 23 was more than just the transforming robot mecha. It had a much deeper plot that made me smile after seeing how closely The Matrix had referenced the basic plot of MGZ 23. I was astonished that what I thought would a same old typical transforming robot mecha anime actually turned out to be something good! (Not saying other transforming mecha anime is bad). Basically for those who haven't seen it and without spoiling anything the plot focuses around a biker gang boy named Shogo who stumbles across a secret military motorcycle called a Garland that happens to transform into a giant robot. As Shogo is chased by agents working for the military who want the bike back, he begins to unravel the secrets behind the bike, and why the military wants it back so badly. It turns out that for reasons I can't explain without giving away the story the world in which Shogo lives in is actually controlled by a computer called Bahamut (No not the summon from Final Fantasy!). Bahamut controls everything in the world, so to avoid her control (Yes her) the military has moved underground in which they can safely work to break influence Bahamut has over the "world". The rest of the first part, which is the only part I have finished so far entails Shogo trying to stop the military and the mysterious man who goes by BD.
Why he does this you may ask? Well, I guess you'll just have to give the show a shot for yourself to find out. As Wizartar said in one of his videos, Megazone 23 is an underrated show that is usually past up. However don't let this one slip by, for it is one of the best Japanese anime I have seen yet, next to GiTS.
(Please tell me if you'd like me to stop posting stuff like this because maybe it's stuff you already know, or I'm spoiling things for you. Just trying to create discussion!
